Movement Assessment
A structured movement assessment in the City of London — a Functional Movement Screen that maps how you squat, hinge, press, and rotate, identifies asymmetries and restrictions, and sets the movement baseline that any intelligent programme should be built on before load is added.

What this is
What you get
What's included
- A documented Functional Movement Screen — squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, and rotation patterns assessed for range, control, and symmetry
- Left-to-right asymmetries and compensations identified before they are loaded and amplified
- Mobility and stability restrictions mapped to the lifts they limit — so programming works around them, not into them
- Read alongside strength, VO2 max, resting metabolism, and lifestyle data as part of the full Longevity Assessment
- A written Results Review showing your movement priorities and a recommended training phase
- BSc-qualified S&C coach, twelve years coaching senior professionals — no obligation to continue with coaching
How it works
What to expect
Getting started
Wear loose athletic clothing that allows full range of motion. Bring a water bottle and any prior medical reports relevant to training (recent blood work, GP letters, scan results). Complete the short intake questionnaire sent after booking. Arrive 5 minutes early to settle in before screening.
During your sessions
After your sessions
You will leave with a written Results Review covering your movement priorities, the patterns to restore first, and a recommended training pathway. Avoid intense training on assessment day. The Results Review is yours to keep regardless of whether you continue with coaching.

FAQ
Common
questions
What is a movement assessment?
A structured evaluation of how your body moves — range of motion, control, and left-to-right symmetry across the squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, and rotation patterns. It uses a Functional Movement Screen to produce a repeatable record of where you move well and where you are restricted, so training can be built around your real movement rather than a template.
Is a movement assessment the same as a Longevity Assessment?
The movement assessment is one component of the Longevity Assessment. Booking the £299 in-person Longevity Assessment gives you the full Functional Movement Screen plus strength testing, VO2 max, resting metabolic rate, and a lifestyle review — all read together. Most people searching for a movement assessment want this structured version rather than a screen in isolation.
Why does movement quality need to be assessed before training?
Because loading a restricted or asymmetric pattern amplifies the problem. A movement that looks fine unloaded can break down under weight, accumulating fatigue, niggles, or injury. Screening movement first means programming can restore the limiting patterns and introduce load only where you are ready — so strength is built on a base that can take it.
Do I need a movement assessment if I have no pain or injury?
Yes — it is often most useful when nothing hurts yet. Asymmetries and restrictions usually develop silently from years at a desk before they cause symptoms. Catching them at the screen stage lets us programme around them early, which is far easier than unwinding a problem that has already been loaded heavily for months.
What do I receive after the assessment?
A written Results Review covering your movement priorities, the patterns to restore first, and a recommended training phase, alongside the rest of your Longevity Assessment data. It is yours to keep regardless of whether you continue with coaching, and the screen is re-tested every six months for clients who train on with Matt.
Where is the movement assessment carried out?
In person at UNTIL, 280 Bishops Square, London EC2M 4RB — a few minutes from Liverpool Street station. The training floor has the full strength equipment and the Calibre Biometrics setup used for the rest of the Longevity Assessment, so movement, strength, and cardiovascular testing happen in one structured session.
